My husband is not an overly enthusiastic animal person, which is why we have now had multiple dwarf rabbits, an African pygmy hedgehog, three dogs, a horse (appreciably, not in residence), and two rescued birds over the course of our many years together. There’s a villain in this story and, much as I hate to admit it, it’s probably me.
